Join our enthusiastic team
Volunteers are an integral and hugely valued part of the walled garden and we are always looking for new recruits. You will get to experience the walled garden throughout the seasons. There is a wide range of tasks which volunteers may be asked to do from seed sowing, mulching, weeding and watering, through to harvesting and flower arranging. As a valued member of the team we take every opportunity to train you on the job with our informal workshops. The workshops demonstrate horticultural tasks useful at the walled garden or at home, including pruning, propagation and seed saving.
Some of our volunteers are assigned small areas to work on each week before moving onto larger group tasks, where our existing team of friendly volunteers work in an inviting, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.
We have an attractive benefits package including a discount card and a parking pass for the beaches at Holkham. To show our appreciation of the volunteers invaluable contribution, we hold several social events throughout the year, including Christmas drinks in Holkham Hall and barbeques in the walled garden. These events are hugely popular and well received.
As we progress with the restoration project there will be opportunities to assist with different tasks including researching the heritage, photography, assistance at events and much more.
